Emeric and Lacey
Moving in Circles
By Cataluna Wakefield

* Note: * The following fan-fiction is taken from the Circle Twilight Picnic List E-mail RPG (however, modified to fit together). The characters are Lacey Schiller, Emeric Hayward, Briony, Reece and Blaise (Lacey and Emeric are my own characters, Reece and Briony is brought to into this by Rachel Twilight and Blaise, although is an L.J. Smith character, she is brought into this by Sarah Strange of Circle Twilight, thankyou Blaise, Briony and Reece.

Lifting her dark sunglasses, revealing emerald eyes, using them to keep her long raven hair from her face. Lacey picked up a black duffle bag decorated with a red sequined heart with black and red beaded bat wings. Licking her deep-red lips, and wiping the corners of her mouth, making sure there was no trace of a feed she had minutes before, she made her way out into the sun.
She was a vampire. . .a deadly huntress of the night.
Lacey took in her surrounds, the sun was shining too bright for her liking, she was glad it didn't harm her---that much---only weakened her strength fifty percent. Doning her shades back on, her bright red fringe flopped down, shaping itself around the curve of her high cheeks.
She walked closer to the small crowd gathering at the lake, curious what was going on.
She had worn a 1960's style black seude dress over her silken red shirt with comfortable red strapped sandals. . .she hadn't known exactly what to wear or bring, because she had received her inivitaion late, all she knew it was a picnic of some sort.
Stopping at the lake, she dropped her bag at her feet and stuck out a pale hand with claw like blood-red nails. "Hi Briony. . .right?" Without waiting for an answer, Lacey continued on. "I'm Thianna Lacey Schiller, but call me Lacey."
She glanced back over her shoulder, her soulmate---and an elder to the Circle Midnight she belonged to---had followed her. "Emeric, what are you doing here?" She spoke with her mind.
A mental laugh was thrown back at her, followed by the words: "our blood-bond, I guess this means I was invited too!"
Blaise flicked off the radio with one long, perfectly manicured crimson fingernail. She didn’t check her reflection as she stepped out of the sleek black Taurus, because she already knew what she’d see. . .
Dark gray eyes glowing with sleepy fire, framed by long midnight hair cascading in waves down her back. A silky, low-cut red blouse, which molds every curve. A golden charm in the shape of a heart, with a beautiful ruby set into the center, hung on a think chain around her neck.
She checked the time on her oversized Rolex watch and shruged. So I'm a little late, nobody else is here yet.
She walked over to Briony, Beizun, and Leander by the lake. "Did I miss the picnic? And I got all dressed up, too..."
Dipping her sun glasses down slightly and sipping a glass of warm clarett chardanč 1975, Lacey leaned back on Emeric.
"Nice to meet you Blaise," she pushed her sunglasses back up and slightly nodded at Breizun, Jade, Red and Leander also in the crowd by the lake. She petted Jade's kitty, "awe what a cute little kitty, I use to have one just like it."
She noticed everyone staring at her. "Don't look at me like that, I may be a fiesty vampire, but I know where to draw the line---I don't touch animals! Not even shape shifters, they give me fur balls---" Lacey broke off giggling. "Besides, I brought my supply with me," she held up her bag and patted it. It was a gesture that all she needed for her time at the picnic was in her bag. "But Emeric here, well he didn't bring a supply---at least I don't think he did---but he doesn't touch animals either, strictly humans and doners."
Turning to the side to look past Emeric, Lacey called out a hello to Reese, who was Briony's brother, she hadn't noticed him until the breaking of a glass at the bar. She could feel her canines begin to grow to a point.
   Briony sat up.
"Eeek!!! What time is it? I must've fallen asleep by the lake!" She jumped up quickly and ran to the bar. "Reece! Quick, give me something to wake me up. NOW!"
Reece smirked. "Sleep late, sis?" he gave her a coffee. "You're missing the party, it's in full swing!"
Briony walked around, greeting everyone.
"Lacey you look absolutely wonderful. Is this Emeric?"
   "Blaise, looking lovely as usual."
Lacey grinned, "Thankyou Bri." Reaching up behind herself, Lacey ruffled up Emeric's hair. "Yeah this love struck sucker (pardon the pun) is Emeric, a vampire elder of Circle Midnight."
Briony smiled and walked over to the stage.
"Vampires, witches, werewolves, shapeshifters, we have a special treat for you. Please give a warm welcome to....BRANDY!!!!"
Briony sat back on the grass and enjoyed the music.
Hearing strains of music play and too many Night World People still arriving to greet, Lacey left Emeric standing under a tree by the lake, as she pushed her way through the crowd, toward the bar.
She dumped her duffle bag on the bar and pulled out a bottle of red sloshing liquid.
   "You're Reece right?"
She slid over the bottle to him, "make a bloody mary out of this" she turned her emerald eyes on him, "please". Licking her now growing fangs.
Turning around, she looked at the ever growing party. "Lots of people huh?" she lifted a brow. "This needs a little livening up." She had a wicked thought of starting a food fight, but knew Bri would litterally kill her for starting it, recking all the nice food.
Lacey turned back to Reece, again she made the point her fangs were growing, "care for a bite?" she snapped her canine's together and laughed. "No, I was talking about the BBQ you had on."

Blaise languidly swam back to shore. She'd been swimming for a few hours and had to get back in before she fell asleep. The water was just so comfortable, Blaise loved the feel of it. . .and swimming was a pleasant distraction, especially when there was such a lack of boys, even more so than at the Circle Midnight parties.
Oh, well. She noticed a cute guy, apparently human, swimming at the other end of the lake---but then Juliet swam up and kissed him on the mouth.
Blaise rolled her eyes and continued swimming to shore, splashing the new couple and several other people on the way. She climbed out, and stepping over Faye, who was sleeping by the side of the lake, picked up her fluffy towel. Red, of course. She wrapped the towel around her waist and climbed up to the main picnic area to get her clothes---but they were missing from the table she'd left them on.
Blaise narrowed her eyes. "Great," she muttered. "Maybe I have a secret admirer." She didn't see the clothes anywhere, and she couldn't just walk around in her bathing suit and towel. . .wait, why not? She grinned and walked over to a table where several others stood in conversation, and grabbed a chilled lemon ice tea. Her clothes wouldn't be missing for long. The ruby amulet that she'd stuck in the pocket of her jeans could not be taken from its' owner for very long. And she wasn't going to let a silly practical joke bother her, she'd wait until she found out who, or what, took them---and then get upset. Smiling, Blaise sipped on her tea.
Grinning as he watched the others of the Night World swim in the lake, and others dance, he wondered: what happened to my girlfriend?
Licking his thin blood stained lips, playing with his canine teeth, he noticed Blaise was in destress with unable to find her clothes.
He stood against the tree, trying to hide Blaise's clothes he had taken whilst she was swimming. He was hungry, and he had known Blaise would be here from overhearing her at the last Circle Midnight meeting.
He knew she was a fiesty little witch, and she was always pulling pranks and getting up to myschief in their Circle, but now it his turn to get back at her. . .he had taken her clothes.
Throwing a look around the tree, he noticed Lacey was still at the bar waiting for a drink. "Probably looking to Reece to be a doner---" his words were cut short as Lacey heard.
"I've got my own supply" there was a pause "you dare touch Blaise and you'll be looking for a grave to sleep in!" Lacey projected back.
Emeric winced, Lacey had always held a candle to Blaise, there was something that Lacey thought was wild about Blaise. He knew he shouldn't be toying with Blaise but she was too much of a handful at times for both him and Circle Midnight.
"Witches," with that, he stepped out of hiding and looked with peircing eyes at Blaise. "Lost something?" he grinned.
The bloodlust he felt hurt. . .he needed blood.
Blaise grabbed her clothes from the vampire. "Emeric," she murmured dangerously. "What a. . .
pleasant surprise." Her flashing grey eyes revealed her anger. That blouse was silk! If he had ruined
it. . .

"Don't worry, I didn't hurt your clothes," Emeric said, reading her thoughts.
"Cute prank, Em. I'll have to repay you somehow." Blaise noticed Emeric's canine teeth extending slightly as she spoke, and stepped back.
"I'm not dinner, though. I think Lacey has already told you that." Then Blaise smiled, and Emeric grinned back. Even if they weren't always on the best terms, they weren't true enemies either.
"Good Hunting," Blaise called as Emeric turned to leave, probably in search of food. She sheilded her mind and walked in the opposite direction, already thinking of ways to get back at Em. . .
Still grinning, Emeric made his way over to the bar where Lacey stood, he figured she was still waiting for her drink, but as he got closer, he noticed Lacey had hold of Reece's wrist, licking her lips and playing with her canines. He knew she was trying to get Reece to be a doner, but wasn't having very much luck over his mind.
"Oh yeah," he thought, "I'm going to have good hunting all right," silently thanking Blaise.
"Lacey!" Emeric yelled at his soulmate, "haven't you got your own supply with you?"
Lacey pouted. "But that's dead blood, this guy is coursing with life in his veins, can't I just take a little taste?"
The wrist was snatched from her as Emeric pulled her away. "Come on, I'm going to start a bon fire, it looks like some people need to get warm after a cold swim."
There was something behind Emeric's words Lacey couldn't quite put her finger on, she sensed it had something to do with Blaise, but she wasn't going to bring it up.
She poked Emeric. "You flirt too much!"
Emeric gave her a sly smile. "What can I say? It's the hunger growing in me, besides I love it when you get jealous. Anyway, there's something about Blaise's blood, something powerful, just like yours but I can't feed on another vampire." Grinning, he wondered what Blaise had in store for him, he knew she'd get him back for taking his clothes.
"Well stay away from Blaise, she's a good friend, if I find out you've fed on her---" she tripped over a pile of fire wood, cursing herself for not looking where she was going.
Emeric caught her and sat her down, then sat beside her. He picked the small twigs out of the wood, then used his power to start a fire. "Relax hon', it's you I'm in love with not Blaise, I just get a thrill from tourmenting her all the time, we're old friends it's like a game between us. . .you'll always be my only one, you're my soulmate." He dropped a quick kiss on Lacey's forehead then pulling out a bag of marshmellows from Lacey's duffle bag, he opened them and placed a couple on a stick to cook.
Rumaging back in the bag, he pulled out a bottle of blood, he didn't care how he got blood, he just needed to satisfy his hunger somehow and dead blood would have to do. He took a swing of it, then hanged it to Lacey.
Lacey grabbed the bottle and Emeric and kissed him before standing up.
She yelled out. . . "anyone for toasted marshmellows?"
Emeric laughed and yanked her back down. . . . "I will always love you Lacey no matter what, remember that!"
Lacey hugged him. "I know and I will"
She was happy, she knew they were happy. She felt in her unbeating heart, this picnic was a way to explain her secret to Emeric, without even knowing it, he had just promised her he'd love her always, even if she told him her secret of betrayal. . .

Blaise sat on a ledge over Lake Dahlia. Many people were splashing below, but she pays no attention to them.
It's starting to get dark and cold, and she felt strange. She tried to shake off the feeling of being watched, but only felt more worried. "Calm down. It's a little Circle Twilight picnic. Nothing's going to hap---" She turned quickly to look as she heared a noise behind her, but not quickly enough---a blinding pain surged through her head. She fell down, unconscious.
Lacey was just about to tell Emeric her betraying secret of not being born a Lamia, she was in fact half human. Abosultly no one knew her secret, but she had a good hunch that Blaise did, after all, nothing got past Blaise, there was something about her which made her know everyone's mind, no matter who they were, she had something to hold against them if bad went to worse.
Opening her mouth she tried. "Emeric, I. . .I have to tell you---"
Someone rushing away from Blaise caught Lacey's attention. "Oh no Blaise!"
Quickly getting up she yanked up Emeric. "We've got to help Blaise, she's hurt!"
Emeric could tell there was panic in Lacey's voice, it had been too dark to see, even with his night vision he was too weak to see clearly, and he senced Lacey had the same problem.
"Lacey, stay with Blaise, I'll go get Briony, she will know what to do. . ."
He left.
"So how's it going little sister?" Reece asked Briony.
"You're only older than me by a few months and don't you forget it!" she playfully slapped him on the arm.
"Briony! Briony!" a voice called out to her.
"Emeric, what is it?" she asked the frantic figure who came running up to her.
"Briony, it's Blaise! Something's wrong with her! She unconsious and we think she's hurt badly!" Emeric spluttered out.
"Well, I hoped my powers wouldn't have to be a part of the picnic," Briony thought to herself. "But there's really not way around it."
"Reece, come on. You have to help me with Blaise." Reece jumped out from behind the bar and followed Emeric and Briony.
"OK everyone," Briony said to those crowded around Blaise.
"Clear some room." the crowd moved back. "Reece you know what to do." Reece nodded, bowing his head slightly, and concentrated. After a few moments, Briony did the same. Suddenly, sparks of Red magick appeared in Briony's hand, and Green in Reece's.
"You always were faster than me at this," Reece's voice was strained.
"OK, now!" Briony's equally strained voice told Reece. They both directed their energy to Blaise, washing her whole body with the magick.
After a few seconds, Blaise began to stur. Lacey pushed through the crowd and crowched beside Blaise. "Blaise, are you ok?"
"I don't know what happened to Blaise," Briony told everyone. "But it seems that she lost a lot of energy and Reece and I gave her it back. She'll be ok in a few minutes, hopefully. I'll be back in a minute. In the meantime, Blaise, how about you tell them what happened."
And Briony turned and disappeared into the forest.
"Well," Briony said, coming out of the forest. "I couldn't find a single thing in there, well apart from trees anyway." she shook her head. "Whatever hurt Blaise is probably long gone by now." she sighed.
Briony turned her head towards the group where Blaise was. She seemed to be recovering quickly, which was good.
Briony grinned when she spotted The Cat and Jon, sitting together under a tree. Close. real close.
"Well, I wonder what will happen with those two? I hope something happens before the picnic is over." she grinned again. Turning away she spotted Reece lying down by himself. Briony walked over to him and sat down.
"Hey Reece, you ok? You look tired." Reece smiled.
"You know a transferrence of energy always makes me tired."
"Hmmm, I wonder why it doesn't happen to me? Could it be that I'm....stronger?" she poked Reece in the side.
"Never!" he declared, and started tickling her.
"Reece!" Briony giggled, gasping for air. "Stop, I think you're killing me!" she giggled again.
Reece stopped.
"So, little sister, how're you and Leigh doing?" he looked at her knowingly.
"Why is he at the picnic anyway? I'm sure I would've remembered if someone had told me they were bringing him along." Briony was puzzled.
"Well, you did say I could bring a friend...." Reece told her.
"You mean to tell me, that you had a friend as gorgeous as this, and you never brought him home? Reece, you little snake!" he laughed and they got up.
"Come on," she said. "You have to be at the bar. I'm not paying you for nothing you know."
Lacey hugged Blaise, the look of concern crossing her face. "Are you ok Blaise? Sorry, I couldn't see who the attacker was, my night vision is weak." She hugged Blaise.
"Mine too," Emeric spoke up, his voice feeled with guilt on not seeing clearly enough either.
He rested a hand on Blaise and a hand on Lacey. "Come on, lets get you up, gotta find those feet of yours."
Lacey agreed. "You need to strengthen that energy of yours by walking or someting," she turned to Briony. "Sorry Bri," she looked down at the ground. "I couldn't see clearly, if only I could see propperly, I'd have been more help, or if I payed attention to Blaise being alone."
The human side of her made her feel the threat of tears starting to spill. Swallowing hard and tried to hold them back.
She helped Blaise to her feet, and looked at Emeric, knowing her eyes were still glazy from the threat of tears. She had to be strong, she couldn't show her guilt or sorrow, if she did Emeric would know she wasn't full Lamia.
She concerntrated on helping Blaise get her full strength back, even with the energy Briony and Reece had given Blaise, she knew it'd need to be strengthed with a little walk or something to clear her mind.
Some time later, Emeric collected his and Lacey's things together and put out the bon fire, he watched Lacey pacing back and forth under a tree nearby. He senced she had something to tell him, he had had the same feeling when they were walking around with Blaise, he also knew Blaise had found out Lacey's secret, that much was clear to him by the express Blaise wore.
   He walked over to her.
"Lacey, what's feeding on you?" he asked in a soft voice, taking his soulmate in his arms.
Lacey gave a small nervous laugh. "Feeding on me? What makes you say that? We're higher than humans, but below Gods."
"You know what I mean Lacey."
Looking around, Lacey could see the picnic was ending, everyone was packing up, it would time to go soon, she hoped Blaise would be all right and have her justice. "I have to tell him" she thought to herself.
Taking a deep breath, she blurted out, "Ricky" she used his name only she could call him, hoping it'll soften the blow, "I'm not Lamia, only half. My father is of the Night World, but my mother is human, I was born with the sleeping vampire blood in my veins. I know you're going to hate me now, but I can't live with this secret anymore, it's weakening me, and everytime I've looked at you I wonder if you knew."
Emeric was numb, but finally he sighed and pulled away from Lacey, he was hurt and enraged. "Is that why you came to this picnic, to be a part of Circle Twilight and leave Circle Midnight? Or were you planning to go to Circle Daybreak?!"
Nearly in tears, Lacey slipped around the other side of the tree. "I know we're not meant to feel emotions toward humans, but I can't help it. . .my mother is human and I love her and I'll never let anyone hurt her, I'd rather die."
She was crying now, Emeric could tell. He followed her, and hugged her.    "Little one, I guess I broke the rules too, I fell in love with you and I lead you into the Night World. If you had only told me, I would of still loved you, you're my soulmate. You can have your freedom of Circle Midnight if you wish, join the Circle Twilight, it's your middle ground. But you have to understand, I'm still of Circle Midnight, I can't change that because I'm an elder, though I will make sure no harm comes to your parents or you." He kissed her.
Lacey was happy, Emeric understood, she was free of her secret and could be a part of both circles---Midnight and Twilight. She felt so free.
"Lets go home," Emeric whispered, picking her up.
Lacey giggled, "Ricky, put me down! Put me down!"
It was only at Lacey's red Suzuki Vitara that he put her down.
She turned, and sent her messages to everyone, "Goodbye Night People. Briony, thanks for inviting me, take care of Blaise for me. . ."
   They left.
